What I didn't realize then is that I'd inadvertently 'discovered' upright cycling. Before that day, I'd only had mountain bikes, or road bikes. I'd never sat upright on a bike before, and never even thought about the existence of bikes designed just for city use. I'd never considered Amsterdam or Copenhagen as a "thing we can do here."
